Save-the-Date! September 10-16, 2012
The North Carolina Maritime Museum in Beaufort will be working together with local sites throughout Carteret County to put together a series of classes and programs designed specifically for the home school community. Details will be posted as they are confirmed.
Climate Change Workshop January-March 2012 FULL!
Students will join museum educators in a series of experiments to learn first-hand the effects that climate change is having on the environment and given the opportunity to form their own opinions about this controversial topic. This class will culminate in the students making a group presentation at the C2S2 Climate Change Student Summit in March.
Field Trips
There are boatfuls of opportunities for learning and discovery at the North Carolina Maritime Museums. Come on your own, or as a group. Groups of 10 or more who reserve in advance are eligible for any of our group programs. Visit our School & Group Program page to learn more.

Home School Friendly Programs
The following programs are not designed specifically for the home school community, but would be of interest for families that are part of the home school community. This is only a selection of the programs offered at the Maritime Museum, for a complete list of programs please visit our calendar.
Brown Bag Gam/Discovery Noon; Days vary- See online calendar
Pack a snack and meet at the Museum during your lunch hour for informal presentations on topics of maritime history, culture and the natural enviornment of coastal North Carolina.
Carolina Maritime Model Society Meets Last Saturday of the Month at 2 p.m.
While not specifically designed as a program for home school students this is the chance for the public to interact with experts from across Carteret County who come together to discuss and share their joy of making boat models. The Carolina Maritime Model Society exists to encourage interest and active participation in the hobby, to improve the standards of members’ models through the free exchange of ideas, techniques and information, and to emphasize to both members and the public at large that research is the foundation for the production of high-quality ship models.
Civil War Lectures-2nd Saturday of each month, 3p.m.
Commemorate the sesquicentennial of the Civil War. A variety of topics from mourning practices to blockade runners will be discussed. No cost. See online calendar for details.
