Fright Night 2011
Coastal ghosts and legends come to life for the 5th annual “Fright Night” at the North Carolina Maritime Museum in Beaufort on Friday, Oct. 28. For the first time, the Museum partners with local businesses to offer “Boo-fort Trick or Treat,” as part of the event.
Dress in costume, bring family and friends, and enjoy an evening of maritime lore and entertainment. The Museum stays open late, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., to offer a full array of Halloween activities for all ages.
“At ‘Fright Night,’ we’ll provide something that appeals to all ages, from haunted exhibits, to kid-friendly games and waterfront storytelling,” said Museum Education Curator Allison Besch. “End your evening with a stroll down Front Street in downtown “Boo-fort” using a map of participating businesses who will give out treats that are sure to delight.”
The event includes:
• Haunted Museum Tour – with the help of the East Carteret High School Drama club, Museum exhibits once again come to life. You might bump into a few characters from the past!
• Not-so-scary Games - little ghouls and goblins can challenge each other to games that delight instead of fright.
• Pumpkin Patch – pick out a mini pumpkin and paint it on the Museum patio. Pumpkins sold for a small additional fee.
• Seaside Spooky Stories - if you dare, gather around the Museum’s Watercraft Center to hear tales of maritime misfortune. Feel the breeze – or ghosts flying by – in this eerie waterfront setting.
• “Boo-fort Trick or Treat” – Pick up a treasure map that will disclose the downtown merchants who provide a treat for those looking for a safe and well-lit route.
“Fright Night” admission is $5 for adults, $2 ages 18 and under. For more information, call (252)728-7317.
